Joint ventures

Joint venture universities are campuses that were formed as a partnership between a Chinese university and a foreign university. In the past 25 years, joint venture universities have proliferated in China. Management and oversight structure varies widely among joint venture universities. In recent years, some joint venture universities have received growing international scrutiny for insufficient oversight by the foreign partner and insufficient distance from Chinese entities involved in military modernisation or human rights violations.
